Rehabilitation of stadia to host 2016 AFCON
Stadia in Yaounde, Buea and Limbe to Receive complete Refurbishment
A meeting on the official launching of the rehabilitation works of the stadia selected to host the 2016 female AFCON, took place on the 27th of November 2015, in the conference hall of MINSEP.
This meeting was presided over by the Minister of Sports and physical Education, Dr. Bidoung Mkpatt. Also present were some top officials of this ministerial department, partner ministries, members of FECAFOOT, and technical consultants responsible for the complete refurbishment of the sporting facilities.
The minister appreciated the presence of all the participants, while emphasizing that work has already begun on all the stadia and that the main objective of the meeting is to assure that, the document of contract is respected by all the technical consultants involved, and also to respect the norms of work as stipulated by the CAF. The minister equally reiterated that, these works should be finished and handed over in eight (08) months.
Five Technical consultants were selected to carry out studies on how these rehabilitations will proceed. To ease the work so that things should go fast, the works have been divided into different lots. The technical enterprises involved with the different lots include:
EGIS Bâtiments is concern with giving the Yaounde Omnisport stadium a new look,
Louis Berger is concern with refurbishing the Two M’fandena annex stadiums and the Military stadium,
AIDA which is concern with rehabilitation works on the Buea Molyko and Municipal stadiums,
ARCHI’DIA is concern with giving technical proposals to renovate the Limbe Centenary and the Middle farm stadiums;
AMA consultant will be concern with the coverage and equipping of the Limbe stadiums.
Other stakeholders like ENEO, CAMWATER, LABOGENIE and CAMTEL were represented, and were all ready to tackle their own part of the works.
Partner ministries concerned with these rehabilitation works like MINMAP, MINTP, MINPOSTEL, MINEPDED, MINEE and COMIPCAN have always been present in the preparatory meetings and are ready to furnish whatever is expected of them.
Reception of rehabilitation works in all these sporting facilities to host the 2016 Women’s African Cup of Nations is previewed for the 30th of June 2016.
